West Brom could lock horns with Carlos Corberan as ex-Baggies boss in running for Championship job
West Bromwich Albion could be reunited with Carlos Corberan next season.
The Baggies have been on a downward spiral since the exit of Corberan, who joined Valencia days before Christmas back in 2024.
Since then, Albion have parted ways with three permanent managers, with Eric Ramsay the most recent.
With that said, things are starting to look brighter under James Morrison, who successfully guided West Brom to safety when it looked like relegation was destined.
He will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last season's nightmare.
And in the process of doing so, he may come across former West Brom manager Corberan.
Where could Carlos Corberan go this summer?
Corberan's time with Valencia has been his second-most successful period in his career, with an average of 1.51 points per game.
That was only bettered by his time in charge at The Hawthorns, when his Albion side averaged 1.59 points per game, showcasing his impact at Championship level.
And that could see him return to the second tier of English football sooner rather than later, with the Spaniard among those listed in the running for the Burnley job.
Corberan is far from being the favourite for the job, with major bookmakers pricing him at 25/1 to make the move to Turf Moor.
Among the favourites are Steven Gerrard and Russell Martin, the latter of whom has also been linked with the Leicester City job after their relegation to League One.
What did Corberan say after West Brom exit?
Given the fact that Christmas is supposed to be a time of celebration, the news of Corberan's departure definitely softened the mood.
However, the Spaniard made it clear that the decision to move on from The Hawthorns was a tough one after posting an emotional message to supporters in the wake of his departure.
Back in 2024, the ex-Baggies boss said via X: "The decision to leave has been the hardest of my life. There will always be a special place in my heart for this special club and I hope one day I can return to thank you all for your incredible support.”
Should Burnley make a move for Corberan, he may get the chance to return to The Hawthorns as early as this year, and if so, he will no doubt get a welcome reception from supporters.
