Scout Report

Physicality & Presence

When fit, Dike is a physically dominant force, capable of being a real handful in the Championship. His ability to hold off defenders and provide a focal point for the attack remains one of his greatest assets.

Aerial Threat

Dike can be a particular threat in aerial situations, winning a high percentage of duels in opposition boxes. He is a real focal point for crosses, and at set-pieces.

Tactical Role

Since returning to the fold, Dike has largely been utilised as an impact sub, but his presence when on the pitch allows the Baggies to play a more direct game when required.

Daryl Dike: A case of what could have been at West Brom

You would have to have a heart of stone to not empathise with the injury issues Daryl Dike has endured at West Brom. Signed from Barnsley in January 2022, Dike missed a significant part of the remainder of that campaign with a hamstring issue. But it was an Achilles injury sustained in April 2023 that really marked the start of the serious problems, with Dike sustaining a similar issue in February 2024 just a month after his comeback. He missed the start of this campaign with a thigh problem and, though he returned in October, he has been largely a bench player and has struggled to make a consistent impact for Albion.

D. Dike in Profile: Contract Status and Market Value

Daryl Dike: What’s his value?

Dike, if fit, is a real physical threat in the Championship but unfortunately his time at The Hawthorns has been cruelly disrupted by long-term injuries. As such, Transfermarkt currently rates his market value at around **£1.3million**, though, as explained below, Albion are surely heading for a situation where they don’t receive a penny.

Daryl Dike’s Contract Situation

The 10-cap United States international is now reaching a crossroads at Albion. After signing a long-term deal upon his arrival in early 2022, Dike is now entering the final months of that agreement. With his contract officially set to expire in the **summer of 2026**, his future is very much up in the air.

Will relegation play a role in Daryl Dike’s future?

Relegation would almost certainly signal the end of Dike’s stay. His wages and the club’s need to trim the squad for the third tier would make a renewal difficult. However, if the Baggies survive, the decision becomes a gamble on his long-term fitness, but even then it does not appear especially likely one they will take.

How big a role does Dike play at West Brom?

A fully fit and in-form Dike can be a real asset to the Baggies, especially from a physical standpoint. He offers a focal point, and is someone who can bring others into play. The issue has been seeing that threat for a sustained period.

Should West Bromwich Albion offer Daryl Dike a new contract regardless of which league they are in?

Yes, keep him at all costs.
No, let him leave on a free.

Daryl Dike: Is a West Brom exit inevitable?

While you can never say never in football, it is hard to imagine West Brom take a gamble with a new deal for Dike unless they can negotiate different terms. If the unthinkable were to happen and the Baggies are relegated from the Championship, then they might think he could be a valuable asset in League One. But, right now, all signs point towards an inevitable summer exit. It really is a shame that injuries have played such a significant part in his time at The Hawthorns.
