Bristol City are set to announce a new contract for defender Taylor Moore amid interest from West Brom, according to the Bristol Post.

The newspaper claims on their website that the 23-year-old has caught the eye of the Baggies since last season and the Premier League club were interested in a £3million deal for him.

However, Moore's now set to commit his future to Ashton Gate and put the final nail in the coffin of Albion's pursuit of the player.

West Brom are likely to have cooled their interest in Moore a while back due to Slaven Bilic signing Cedric Kipre and Branislav Ivanovic to add to his centre-back options.

However, a poor start to the season by Albion's defence means that new additions in that area of the squad shouldn't be ruled out just yet.

Dara O'Shea, Kyle Bartley and Semi Ajayi have looked very shaky as a back-three while Ahmed Hegazi has dropped down the pecking order and is struggling with injury issues.

Moore is a promising 23-year-old centre-back who's English and played an important role in helping Bristol City win all three of their opening Championship fixtures and he even wore the captain's armband last week in the Carabao Cup loss to Aston Villa.

For £3million, Moore could've been quite a decent acquisition but the former England Under-20 international's value is bound to rise once he's put pen to paper on a new deal at Ashton Gate.

And with West Brom's transfer budget so restricted, it's hard to see how they could even afford him in January once that transfer window comes around.
