Steve Hermon, from BBC WM, has now provided clarification on the figures of the deal.
He stated on his X account on Friday that the fee is more than £600,000, but also dismissed the £1.2m figure as "inaccurate".
Albion have made good business given what Mowatt earned and his contract status, but they could come to regret it.

Mowatt is an experienced operator in the second tier, with 404 appearances in the competition.
The Baggies have added Felix Horn Myhre and Rabby Nzingoula to the engine room, but they have no experience in English football.

However, Mowatt's departure leaves question marks over the level of talent available to Morrison in such an important position, on the eve of the campaign starting.
