Birmingham City are now also in the running to sign Rangers defender Adam Devine who has been linked to West Brom, according to the Daily Mail.

Sun journalist Alan Nixon reported on his Patreon page (5 January) that the Baggies are eyeing a cut-price deal to sign the 21-year-old right-back, who is out of contract in June.

The Mail reported in their Rangers Confidential on Thursday (9 January) that rivals Birmingham, plying their trade in League One, are now also in the running.

Devine is described as being at a "crossroads" at Ibrox and Birmingham sense an opportunity to strike a deal "on the cheap".

West Brom: Will Rangers defender Adam Devine sign?

Devine made his breakthrough at Ibrox in the 2021/22 campaign but has struggled to impose himself on the first-team picture at Rangers.

Indeed, he spent the second half of last season loan at Motherwell and has yet to appear for the Gers under Philippe Clement this season.

It remains to be seen if the Baggies will cement their interest but what might count against them is the fact he's likely to be back-up for Darnell Furlong.

Birmingham are playing in the third tier as it stands and may be able to offer more regular football, so it is not a clear cut transfer as things stand.

Indeed, the immediate priority for West Brom is to announce a permanent successor to Carlos Corberan after the head coach departed for Valencia on Christmas Eve.
