West Brom are preparing for a £15million bid from Brentford to sign Tom Fellows in the coming days, according to The Sun.

The report on page 46 of Thursday's edition (30 January) of the newspaper suggests the Bees are willing to pay up to £15m to secure Fellows, who is the only Championship player to have claimed 10 assists this season.

Fellows has two-and-a-half years remaining on his deal at The Hawthorns which keeps the Baggies in a strong position, having already turned down a £12million offer from Everton for the 21-year-old.

West Brom must not let Fellows leave mid-season

West Brom had to attempt to be particularly astute with their recruitment last summer, given Shilen Patel and former manager Carlos Corberan were operating under financial restrictions for much of the window.

When these constraints were eased, the Albion wasted no time in getting Mikey Johnston through the door on a permanent deal which gave Baggies fans an almighty lift.

However, many experienced players also left following elimination from the play-off semi-finals last May, and the Baggies are now going increasingly down the young player route as encouraged by Tony Mowbray.

Fellows typifies that. The England Under-21 winger has been superb this campaign for his side and will be expected to continue as a driving force towards once again securing a top-six finish.

To let the wide man go - even at a tempting premium - to the Premier League midway through the season would be a massive blow that despite the other talent Mowbray has at his disposal, could cost the Baggies if they aren't careful.
