West Brom are closing in on the signing of Callum Styles with the midfielder currently having a medical at the club, according to DOOD.

The club news outlet posted on X with an update (23 August), stating that Hungary international Styles was having his medical with the Baggies "as we speak" ahead of a switch from Barnsley.

This update came as a follow-up to TalkWBA's own report on the social media site (23 August), which said that Styles had agreed to join the club following "days of negotiations".

Styles was been seen at Albion's training ground alongside Uros Racic, whose own signing was confirmed on Thursday (22 August), with the former arriving ahead of his reported medical.

West Brom ramp up transfer activity with Callum Styles agreement

Adding two international midfielders in as many days would certainly go down well with the Albion faithful, and that's exactly what appears to be on the cards at the Hawthorns following these updates.

Although Styles would be moving up a division from League One side Barnsley, he's spent 18 of the last 24 months playing in England's second tier during loan spells with Millwall and Sunderland respectively.

Having featured at Euro 2024 with Hungary this summer, Styles brings considerable pedigree to Carlos Corberan's side, and will add another option in a midfield which looked depleted at the start of the week.

Like Racic's loan switch from Sassuolo, Styles' move to The Hawthorns – if it is confirmed on Friday – will come too soon for the 24-year-old to feature at Stoke City on 24 August in the Baggies' next match.

However, with a week of the transfer window left to run, Corberan looks to have added two more than capable midfield assets to his side, making up for the loss of Okay Yokuslu earlier this summer.
