Dominic Price has largely operated in the shadows since his appointment at West Brom.

The 35-year-old was appointed as technical director in March, but his name has not been in the headlines since he joined the Bilkul Football revolution in the West Midlands.

He is responsible for overseeing the academy, analysis, medical and sports science departments at The Hawthorns.

His role also involves squad planning strategies, which should set the Black Country club up for future success.

He may finally be living up to expectation with the Baggies set to sign Carter Pinnington from Liverpool, where Price used to work as an academy coach before returning as a first-team analyst.

The young defender has chosen Albion over several other clubs who were interested in his services, which could turn out to be a real coup.

Why is Carter Pennington such a great capture for West Brom?

The signing of Pinnington is such a coup because of how highly rated he was at Liverpool.

He was yet to make his first-team debut, but has been in and around the first-team squad on several occasions, and signed a professional contract with the Reds in 2024.

The youngster was named on the bench for the Carabao Cup fourth round clash with Crystal Palace on October 2025 - his only senior matchday involvement to date.

Are we finally seeing Dominic Price's impact?

One has to wonder whether Price's connection with the Anfield side has helped them win the race for Pennington's signature.

If he can continue to add promising youngsters through his contacts higher up the pyramid, it will surely only benefit the Baggies, as some of them are bound to hit.

Pennington, while not playing much senior football, has been top of his age groups consistently with the L4 club.

That is an encouraging sign, and with the experience of Nat Phillips and Chris Mepham guiding him, he could develop into a first-team player very quickly.

Price's appointment may well make the Throstles attractive to young prospects, and they may choose a move to B71 over other opportunities with him at helm.

We may well be starting to see his impact behind the scenes, after months of quiet work that was not noticed.
