West Brom fans are not happy with a report which claims the club is lining up a last-minute move for Swansea forward Andre Ayew.

According to the Daily Mail, the 30-year-old Ghana international has emerged on the radar of the Baggies in the final week of the domestic transfer window.

West Brom have until 5pm on Friday to sign new players from EFL clubs and are yet to add a new centre-forward since winning promotion from the Championship.

Huddersfield striker Karlan Grant is widely reported to be Slaven Bilic's top target going into the final days of the window but Ayew, who's also wanted by Brighton, seems to have emerged as a potential alternative.

Ayew has experience of playing in the Premier League having scored 21 goals in 89 top-flight appearances across spells at West Ham and Swansea.

However, the former Marseille attacker isn't exactly the out-and-out striker that the Baggies need.

According to his heatmap on WyScout, as shown in the image below, Ayew is predominantly a right-sided winger - and West Brom already have plenty of wide options in their squad.

Ayew can play as a striker and did do plenty of times last season as he scored 18 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions for the Swans.

But to view him as a player to come in and score the goals to keep the Baggies in the Premier League just shows that the club is scraping the barrel due to their restricted transfer budget.

And that seems to be the view of these West Brom fans too.
