Matt Ingram has officially joined West Bromich Albion.

The Baggies announced the arrival of the goalkeeper after little to no speculation.

The Englishman will link up with James Morrison's squad when they begin pre-season on 25 June.

Ingram is the third new arrival for the Baggies, following the signing of both Barney Stewart and Jimmy-Jay Morgan.

Morrison is hoping to build a squad capable of moving up the Championship table and away from the relegation zone.

And Ingram could certainly play a key role in that. Here is everything you need to know about West Brom's latest signing.

Who is Matt Ingram?

Ingram is a 32-year-old 6'3" goalkeeper who has plied his trade throughout the EFL over a 16-year professional career so far.

The Englishman came through Wycombe Wanderers' academy and went on to play 141 times in all competitions for them from 2010 to 2016.

He then moved on to play for QPR between 2016 and 2019 but his time at Loftus Road was littered with loan spells.

His second most played club was Hull City, where he was contracted from 2019 to 2024.

He played 111 times for the Tigers. Since then, he has played the role as back-up at Oxford United, featuring in just seven games in all competitions from 2024 up until joining West Brom.

How long is Ingram's West Brom contract?

At 32 years old, Ingram has not signed for the long term, but as per West Brom's official announcement, he will be at The Hawthorns for the next two years.

His contract will run out in June 2028.

In terms of a transfer fee, neither club has confirmed the total, if any, but Ingram was still contracted with The U's at the time of signing, making it likely money has exchanged hands.

Where will Ingram fit in James Morrison's squad?

The likelihood is that Ingram is coming in to play the role of third-choice goalkeeper.

After Max O'Leary extended his stay in B71, the Irishman is expected to remain as Morrison's number one goalkeeper.

Joe Wildsmith's contract is expiring at the end of June and Joshua Griffiths is still contracted.

However, this arrival could now open the door for Griffiths to depart.

Ingram is a seasoned professional and will lend an experienced voice among the squad having been part of plenty of dressing rooms

The role of back-up or third-choice goalkeeper is not a glamourous one, but it is a position that's importance can often go under the radar.
