West Brom have pulled off the permanent capture of Mikey Johnston from Celtic, and James McClean has delivered his reaction.

The Bhoys posted their farewell montage for Johnston on their official Instagram page on Friday afternoon [30 August], with McClean liking the post as he shows his support for the £3million signing.

Johnston joins after a superb loan spell in the second half of last season, with seven goals and two assists in 17 starts.

West Brom secure Mikey Johnston deal

It came rather out of the blue given how little West Brom have been able to spend for the majority of the window, but Mikey Johnston is officially a Baggie - and this time, for keeps.

The Irishman was out of favour at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers who sanctioned the transfer, and the past 48 hours have seen Albion fans wracked with nerves over whether he would choose the move back to The Hawthorns.

The major obstacle to overcome was that Burnley had also agreed a £3m fee with Celtic, and the decision consequently arrived into Johnston's lap.

But he has opted for a return which has really lifted spirits among Carlos Corberan's side, who despite losing a lot of squad experience have begun the Championship season well.

The Baggies take on Swansea City on Saturday (30 August) afternoon before the international break.
