Josh Griffiths looks increasingly likely to swap West Bromwich Albion for Stoke City.

The Englishman appears to be on his way out of The Hawthorns after a patchy campaign.

There was an expectation that he would be the number one choice in B71 for the campaign as things got underway under Ryan Mason.

It didn't turn out that way as Joe Wildsmith featured before Max O'Leary came in on a free transfer from Bristol City.

That left the 24-year-old to regularly watch on from the bench while waiting for an opportunity to come his way.

It appears that his time with Albion could be set to come to an end as Griffiths could soon be on his way to Stoke this summer.

The shot stopper just hasn't hit the ground running since returning to the Black Country after his various loan moves.

His most recent spell away from the Midlands came against Bristol City and was largely positive.

He was seen as the replacement for Alex Palmer after his move to Ipswich Town, but just hasn't settled into the role as once hoped.

That has since seen O'Leary come in and take the number one shirt and thrive in between the sticks.

The Republic of Ireland international has recently penned a new three year deal at The Hawthorns as his six month contract edged closer to its end.

With that agreement now sorted in B71, The Sentinel reported on Tuesday that Griffiths' exit is now "expected to be sanctioned".

Stoke City are said to hold "genuine interest" in the 24-year-old as they eye a number two keeper option this summer.

Max O'Leary contract agreement spells end for Griffiths at West Brom

There has been a true need for a true number one since Palmer switched the Baggies for the Tractor Boys in January 2025.

Wildsmith wasn't that and unfortunately, neither was Griffiths.

O'Leary has taken the responsibility with aplomb and deserves the chance to reprise the role moving into the new season.

His new three-year deal was always going to spell bad news for Griffiths and it looks likely to end with a move away.

Moving elsewhere to be a number two might not make too much sense for his career prospects, but it seems to be growing in likelihood right now.
