West Brom ace Okay Yokuslu has agreed a deal in principle to sign for Turkish side Trabzonspor, according to Ertan Suzgun.

The Turkish journalist reported via his personal X account [20 July] that, although the Baggies increased the asking price after Euro 2024, Trabzonspor have made progress in the bargaining process.

West Brom value the player at around £2million, according to the Express & Star, despite the player entering the final 12 months of his contract.

Okay Yokuslu set for West Brom exit?

The 30-year-old midfielder has been a constant performer for the Baggies since arriving on a permanent deal in the summer of 2022.

Since then, Yokuslu has made 89 appearances and scored five goals, creating an important partnership with Alex Mowatt in the middle of the park last season.

He played 44 of the Baggies' 46 league matches before starring in both Championship play-off matches as Carlos Corberan's side lost out to Southampton in the semi-final.

While Yokuslu will be extremely difficult to replace this summer, the player entering the final 12 months of his contract could suggest that this is the best idea for the Baggies.

The Turkey international, who collected a handful of minutes at Euro 2024, would likely play an important role for Corberan next season but it could mean losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Fans at The Hawthorns will certainly be sad to see him leave after just two permanent seasons at the club, but the monetary value of his exit could provide the Baggies with funds for another transfer.

Corberan has already added defensive midfielder Ousmane Diakite to the squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, which should ease the potential loss of Yokuslu.
