Report: West Brom consider late January swoop for £12m-valued Tottenham player

West Brom are among the clubs who are considering a late January swoop to sign Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker-Peters, according to the Daily Mail.

Crystal Palace and Brighton are also said to be interested in signing the 22-year-old but as it stands, the Mail claims that Southampton are in pole position to strike a deal.

It is understood that the Saints have held talks with Spurs as they aim to sign Walker-Peters, who is valued at £12million.

The newspaper adds that Tottenham would prefer a permanent deal for the England Under-21 international, rather than loaning him out.

Walker-Peters is a good young full-back who can play on both the right and left-hand side of the defence, so he would be a handy addition for West Brom if they can sign him.

Kieran Gibbs' continual injury issues and the doubts over the future of Nathan Ferguson mean that Conor Townsend and Darnell Furlong are Slaven Bilic's only consistent options at left-back and right-back.

Walker-Peters would be a clever loan signing as he covers both of those roles and he may even be good enough to walk straight into the starting line-up at The Hawthorns.

However this deal seems unlikely.

If Southampton are favourites for his signature than Albion are not going to have much hope, especially when Tottenham want to sell the 22-year-old for £12million, rather than loaning him out.
