Sunderland have been ruled out of the transfer race to sign West Brom target and Bournemouth striker Daniel Jebbison, according to Graeme Bailey.

The journalist reported via HITC on Monday (12 August) that the young forward won't be heading to the Stadium of Light on loan before the transfer deadline at the end of August.

Carlos Corberan's side are one of a host of Championship sides to have enquired about the 21-year-old's availability alongside the likes of Norwich, Hull City, Derby and Portsmouth, while Leeds United remain keen.

Reports have suggested that the Cherries forward will be allowed to depart the Vitality Stadium this month even though he only arrived on the South Coast from Sheffield United in July [Keith Downie, 12 August].

Will Daniel Jebbison exit Bournemouth amid West Brom transfer interest?

While this update doesn't mean that the Baggies will definitely be the side to secure Jebbison's signature in the coming weeks, this development can only be viewed as good news for Albion.

If Bournemouth do sanction a loan exit for the 21-year-old, which seems likely at this stage of the window, they will want him to head to a club where he is going to play regular first-team football to aid his development.

West Brom's lack of striking options and current reliance on Josh Maja and Devante Cole could therefore be a blessing in disguise as Corberan's side will be able to assure Andoni Iraola's side that Jebbison will feature most weeks.

The same cannot be said about several other clubs in the race for the former Sheffield United man's signature who all have various alternative forward options who could keep the youngster out of the starting XI.

Hopefully, more and more clubs will be ruled out of the race in the coming days to continue to boost Albion's chances of getting a deal done. Another striker simply has to be on the agenda after Brandon Thomas-Asante's exit.
