Three West Brom players who face an uncertain future before the end of the transfer window

West Bromwich Albion made a fine start to competitive action for the 2026/27 season on Saturday.

Jimmy-Jay Morgan scored twice, while new boy Felix Horn Myhre, and youngster Harry Whitwell all scored in 4-1 win over Rotherham United in the EFL Cup first round.

The new Championship campaign is now on the horizon with a trip to Norwich City first up.

But while the football is back, West Brom are still working hard on finding new additions to their squad in the final weeks of the transfer window.

It is not just incomings, though, with some players sure to be facing uncertainty about their own futures at The Hawthorns.

Here, West Brom News has identified three Baggies players whose status is perhaps not entirely known for the coming campaign.

Alfie Gilchrist

The Baggies only signed Alfie Gilchrist on a full-time deal from Chelsea 12 months ago.

The versatile defender penned a four-year deal with Albion, after he had spent the previous campaign on loan at Sheffield United.

However, Gilchrist made just seven Championship appearances for West Brom last season, and his chances of regular football this season look bleak.

The likes of Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old, while League One outfit Leyton Orient are reportedly interested in striking a loan deal.

If the right deal comes along, it would not be a surprise to see the Baggies allow Gilchrist to depart before the end of the window.

Tammer Bany

West Brom forked out a reported £3.3million fee to sign Tammer Bany from Randers back in February 2025.

But the 22-year-old has made just eight Championship appearances since, and has endured a miserable time of it with injuries.

Bany still has two years to run on his current Albion contract, so if he can get fit maybe there is still a chance he could play his way into contention.

However, if a suitable move could be found for him elsewhere you sense that Albion would be agreeable to making it happen.

It sadly just has not been able to happen for Bany in an Albion shirt so far.

Ollie Bostock

Teenager Ollie Bostock is a player who Albion have high hopes for the in the future.

Aged only 19, the winger made seven Championship appearances last term in a breakthrough campaign for the youngster.

However, Morrison is known to be afte reinforcement on the wings in the remainder of the window.

There is a sense that if Morrison can get some extra bodies in the door that a loan exit could be sought for Bostock.

It would certainly make sense given Albion do not want to stunt his growth, and regular game time elsewhere might be a good solution for all parties.
