West Brom have made a bid of £500,000 plus striker Mo Faal for Barnsley midfielder Callum Styles, according to Dood.

The Baggies new source posted the update on his official X account on Sunday (18 August), saying that "nothing is close" in terms of the deal.

Dood added that the offer is way off Barnley's valuation of the Hungary international and that he does not believe the South Yorkshire club will agree to the Baggies' current offer.

West Brom may need to rethink bid for Barnsley man Callum Styles

It was reported by the Barnsley Chronicle (16 August) that the Tykes have a £2million release clause inserted into the 24-year-old's contract and as things stand Albion are not near that fee.

By adding Faal into the equation, you can see how that valuation might eat into the sort of figures Barnsley are looking for but that is dependent on the League One outfit wanting to accept Faal as part of the equation.

Basically, it feels like if the Baggies are going to get their man then they will have to do a lot more to get closer to Barnley's valuation otherwise there is just going to be a stand-off.

With time running out until the end of the transfer window, it does not make sense to waste time if a deal is not looking likely because that time could be better spent focusing on targets elsewhere.

Let's see how this one plays out, but as things stands it's hard to see how a deal gets done based off the current offer.
