He returned to management in January this year, taking charge of National League side Hartlepool.

Phillips led Hartlepool to seven wins and two draws in 16 games and a 12th-placed finish before leaving the club after the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.

AFC Fylde are currently placed 21st in the National League table after 13 games, but will hope that Phillips' experience in the division will help them climb up the ladder.
