West Bromwich Albion have reportedly tabled a new contract to Karlan Grant as his current deal ticks down towards its expiry date.

The Englishman will become a free agent at the end of June unless he agrees new terms at The Hawthorns.

That could see a six-year spell in the Black Country after his 2020 move from Huddersfield Town.

His £15million move hasn't exactly played out as anyone would have hoped after he played just one season in the Premier League.

Things have improved since he returned from a loan spell at Cardiff City, but injury derailed his most recent season.

Grant is now facing the exit door in B71 and could make a move elsewhere as the Baggies eye alternatives.

Karlan Grant considers contract away from West Brom

The 28-year-old has been a frustrating figure in the Midlands recently after a general lack of impact in front of goal

Having scored just four goals in 27 Championship appearances, there was an expectation that he would perform better.

That frustration wasn't helped when he posted an Instagram story of Aston Villa's Europa League win to congratulate his close friend, Ezri Konsa.

Despite that, it appears that the versatile attacker is still rated by James Morrison at The Hawthorns as his contract ticks down.

TalkWBA reported via X on Thursday that Grant has been offered a new deal on reduced wages

Grant has other options on the table and could still move on when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Things could still go either way, but the Baggies are said to have sounded out alternatives already.

How can West Brom replace Grant?

It will be difficult to replace the former Charlton Athletic man due to his versatility going forward.

He can play on the left or as a number nine, acting as a useful member of the squad for that reason.

It looks as if Albion already have other options in mind, even with deals for Barney Stewart and Jimmy Jay-Morgan at this early stage of the summer.

That could leave the door open for an out-and-out winger signing to provide competition for Mikey Johnston.

There are plenty of options out there, it just needs to be financially viable to replace someone leaving on a free transfer in Grant.
