West Brom reach out to Daryl Dike after second Orlando City debut
Daryl Dike is still in West Brom's thoughts despite no longer being their player.
The American forward was extremely unfortunate with constant injury issues after joining the Baggies in 2022.
That meant his career at The Hawthorns never reached the heights that it was supposed to, as he scored 11 goals and assisted three in 68 matches.
He departed as a free agent when his contract expired, sending an emotional message to Albion supporters.
It appears that the link between the two parties will not fade away anytime soon as the Black Country club sent him a message.
West Brom send Daryl Dike message as he returns to Orlando City action
Dike played his first game back with the Florida-based side in their 2-1 Leagues Cup win over Monterrey.
The 26-year-old came off the bench to feature in the final 20 minutes of the contest.
The Major League Soccer outfit posted on Instagram after the contest on Thursday evening, saying: "After 1,716 days away, Daryl Dike is back."
The Baggies' official account commented on the post, saying: "Back to where it all started. Congrats, Daryl!"
It shows that Dike has not been forgotten in the West Midlands, and still feels the love from his former employers.
Where did it all go wrong for Dike?
Dike's time with the Throstles was riddled with fitness issues, and that is ultimately what led to his release, and the failure to sign new terms.
He suffered a hamstring injury that required surgery just a weeks after joining, making just appearances in his first season in B71.
He played 25 times in his second campaign, notching seven goals, which was a sign of what he could offer.
Dike spent the majority of the 2023-24 season recovering from an left achilles tear, with five appearances, before he ruptured the right one in a cruel twist of fate.
He made 11 appearances in the 2025-26 campaign, as he continued his recovery from the latter injury.
In his final year with Albion, he played 25 times, but was not the same player, as he could only muster up two goals and one assist in a chaotic season.
His time with the Championship outfit is a case of what might have been, and it is nice that they still care about him and how he is doing.
