West Ham have opened talks over the signing of Bournemouth forward Joshua King and appear to be favourites ahead of West Brom in the race to sign land the Norway international, according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper claims that the Baggies have also held talks over signing the 28-year-old in a £10million deal.

However, it is understood that the Hammers are now in "a good position to land the Bournemouth forward".

King reportedly wants to return to the Premier League after suffering relegation from the Championship with the Cherries last season.

He's made just one league appearance for Jason Tindall's side in the second-tier, playing 23 minutes as a substitute against Norwich last month.

The Telegraph now claims that Bournemouth are willing to discuss a deal for the former Manchester United striker, who was wanted by Aston Villa earlier in the transfer window.

King is a proven striker in the Premier League having scored 48 times in 161 top-flight appearances.

West Brom still need a new striker before the domestic transfer window closes on October 16 and King would be a great addition to Slaven Bilic's squad.

However, with West Ham now joining the race, there's a chance Albion will miss out on the Norwegian ace.
