West Bromwich Albion clearly have high hopes for young midfielder Cole Deeming.

The 19-year-old has been on Albion's books since 2013 and has made one senior appearance for the Baggies.

That came in August 2024 in a Carabao Cup defeat to Fleetwood Town.

Deeming has since spent time on loan with Truro City and Cheltenham Town.

He played regularly for League Two side Cheltenham in the second half of last season.

And it appears as though he will soon be loaned out again amid a new update on his future.

Cole Deeming's West Brom contract situation

Deeming signed a two-year contract with West Brom 12 months ago, meaning he has a year to run on that.

However, as per transfer expert Pete O'Rourke via X on Sunday, Deeming is in advanced talks to sign another deal at The Hawthorns.

O'Rourke adds that Albion then intend to loan Deeming out before the transfer window closes in a fortnight's time.

The hope is that the teenage talent can gain more first-team experience away from West Brom, prior to returning to the West Midlands.

What has Deeming said about his West Brom prospects?

Some would perhaps have hoped James Morrison would give Deeming a first-team shot this season.

However, still aged just 19, it is clear he could do with getting a full season under his belt elsewhere first.

Speaking to Albion TV earlier this summer, Deeming said it is "a dream to play for West Brom".

"There’s nothing more I’d love than to play for my club. I’m so determined and committed to do that," he added.

"I think it’s just trying to get as many minutes and games under my belt [in pre-season], trying to do as well as I can and prove to West Brom they can trust me and I can perform for them."

West Brom clearly have trust in Deeming if this latest contract news is anything to go by, but he will have to remain patient before that next first-team shot arrives.

But who knows? Twelve months from now, Deeming may well be part of Morrison's plans should he impress at his next loan club.
