Will Rutter has officially put pen to paper on a contract with West Brom after impressing on trial from Brighton and Hove Albion.

The young goalkeeper emerged through Brighton's academy ranks, having first joined at Under-10s level.

Rutter featured for West Brom Under-18s towards the end of last season, playing six times in total.

He clearly did enough to impress as he has now signed a contract with the Baggies.

The 18-year-old is one of four youngsters to have agreed terms to keep them on Albion's books.

And Rutter has already sent his first message as he prepares for life away from Brighton.

West Brom confirmed the news of Rutter staying on via their official website on Thursday.

Rutter's agent Tom Billson took to Instagram soon after to write: "Delighted to help Will Rutter in his transfer from Brighton to West Brom.

"The 6'6" goalkeeper has signed a two-year deal, and I look forward to continuing to support an exciting journey ahead."

Rutter himself posted on Instagram, saying: "New chapter."

Rutter is not alone in penning terms with the Baggies. Fellow goalkeeper Ben Cisse has signed a one-year deal.

Another keeper, Brian Okonkwo, has signed a two-year deal, while defender Jamal Mohammed has also extended his terms until 2027.

The aim for all four is to ultimately earn a senior contract at The Hawthorns down the line.

What has been said of West Brom quartet after signing deals?

Richard Stevens is the man tasked with leading the youngsters' development.

West Brom's academy manager said of the new deals: "It’s a positive step for the players who’ve been at the club to have another year to progress."

It is interesting that Rutter has signed a two-year deal, which could point to Albion's faith in the young goalkeeper.

Nabbing any youngster from a Premier League club's academy has to be considered a coup.

The hope is that Rutter, plus the others mentioned, one day go on to become West Brom first-teamers.

As we know, though, so often that is not the case. It is over to the quartet to show they are worthy of becoming the exception.
