Tottenham in hunt to sign West Brom defender - report

Tottenham and Crystal Palace are in the hunt to sign West Brom full-back Nathan Ferguson, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that Mauricio Pochettino wants to sort out his lack of right-back options next year and could line up a £10million swoop for Ferguson, 19, after he burst onto the scene at The Hawthorns this season.

Ferguson’s contract at West Brom expires in the summer and while the Baggies are reportedly making an attempt to tie down the impressive full-back to a new deal, there is a chance that he could leave the Black Country in January if a “fair” offer comes in.

Slaven Bilic needs to stop any chance of that happening by getting Ferguson to agree a new deal as soon as possible.

The England Under-20 international has played all but one of the club’s Championship fixtures this season and his displays at left-back are currently keeping Kieran Gibbs out of the side.

Ferguson is also versatile enough to play at right-back and centre-back, so he is certainly a good option that Bilic needs to keep around.

However if Tottenham come in with a £10million bid in January – for a player who could leave for nothing in the summer – that is certainly going to give Bilic, Mark Jenkins and Luke Dowling quite the dilemma.

In other West Brom news, some supporters hailed this player for his performance against Middlesbrough on Saturday.
