Everyone was expecting West Brom to win at The Hawthorns tonight but in the end we were lucky to get out with a point.
Two goals from Cauley Woodrow in the 18th and 24th minutes shocked the home supporters and with the game still at 0-2 in the 68th minute, hope was fading.
An own goal from Bambo Diaby was the impetus the Baggies needed to bounce back and Matheus Pereira was at it again to level the tie in the 81st minute.
He was set-up by a brilliant left-wing cross from 26-year-old Conor Townsend, who came on at half-time for just his second league appearance of the season after a cameo against Nottingham Forest in the opening game of the season.
When Pereira scored, the home fans were convinced West Brom would complete the comeback with Barnsley visibly fading, but Slaven Bilic had to settle for a point.
It’s a point that keeps West Brom on top of the league though, with Leeds failing to beat Preston North End.
Plenty of fans were impressed by Townsend in the second half and one said he made a “massive difference”.
Here are the best reactions to the 26-year-old left-back.
Shoutout for Townsend who made a massive difference in that second half #WBA

Yet again, Bilic’s substitutions made the difference. (Townsend setting up Perieras goal) #wba

Baggies for sure not at their best tonight. But not playing well and yet picking up points can only be a good thing. Brilliant cross from Townsend for Pereira's goal and again Slav's subs making an impact. Roll on Saturday. #wba #COYB

That’s a big point for us in the end. Results have gone for us tonight too.
Too many of them thought the game was going to be an easy victory.
Thought Townsend played well, kids got a decent cross on him. Took a smart yellow as well #wba

For me, our movement in the final third was never good enough. Barnsley sat narrow and with good reason. Townsend and Krovinovic came on and changed the game. Point gained rather than two dropped, especially after the first half. #WBA
