Sky Sports pundit predicts Preston v West Brom clash
West Brom have the chance to go back to the top of the table tonight with a win against Preston at Deepdale – and Sky Sports pundit David Prutton thinks they’ll come out on top of a close encounter.
A win would make it five-in-a-row for the Baggies for the first time since 2010 when Roberto Martino was in charge.
We got promoted that season.
Preston haven’t lost a home game all season but obviously haven’t faced the Baggies yet. They held Leeds to a 1-1 draw but were beaten 4-0 last time out by Hull.
They have been buoyed by a crazy amount of penalty decisions going their way this season – they’ve scored eight spot-kicks out of their 31 goals so far and a regression to the mean might be due.
Writing in his column on the Sky Sports website, Prutton said, “Preston have hit the buffers in their last couple of games, losing their last two. They are starting to lose ground on the sides above them in the automatic promotion race.
“West Brom have been excellent lately and possess so much quality. Winning at Deepdale would be a huge statement from Slaven Bilic’s side. I think they have enough to claim all three points.”
Prutton has predicted West Brom will win 2-1.
That’s the way the bookies see it too, with West Brom priced at just under evens to win (19/20).
That’s still close though – at evens the bookies think West Brom will win this game once for every two times it’s played.
Three points tonight would be huge.
