'Black Country Messi' - Many West Brom fans blown away by clip of Pereira from win v Blues

Matheus Pereira blew West Brom fans away with an impressive piece of ball control in Albion’s 3-2 win against Birmingham at St Andrew’s on Saturday.

Everyone in the Championship has seen how gifted the 23-year-old is since his summer loan switch to The Hawthorns but this weekend, he served up a reminder as to why he is the best player in the league.

A short video clip has emerged on Twitter of Pereira picking the ball out of the air with a superb touch before bringing it to his feet and drawing a foul from a Birmingham defender.

Pereira is one of the most technically talented players that we have seen at The Hawthorns in recent years and – provided Albion do win promotion – it is going to be a treat to see him in the Premier League next season.

The Brazilian has scored five goals and supplied 14 assists since his loan switch from Sporting CP in the summer, which is expected to be made into a permanent deal at some point in 2020.

After watching him impress yet again on Saturday, excitement has clearly grown even more among West Brom fans who cannot wait to see Pereira become their player.

Here is a selection of their tweets:
