Loaned-out West Brom player likely to return in January amid serious injury – report

Charlton are likely to terminate Jonathan Leko’s loan deal and send the young attacker back to West Brom in January, according to London News Online.

Leko, 20, has earned regular game-time since heading to The Valley on a season-long loan deal in the summer but it is understood that a serious injury could see that agreement come to a premature end.

The England Under-20 international was forced off in the 11th minute of Charlton’s 1-1 draw with QPR on Saturday and the initial prognosis is that his injury is one that will see him sidelined for a lengthy spell.

Leko has made 21 Championship appearances for Charlton, scoring five goals and supplying four assists in the process.

He was showing great signs of development at the London club but this injury setback is going to be a major blow for him, West Brom and Charlton if it means his spell at The Valley has to end early.

If Leko gets back to fitness before the end of the season there is always the possibility that he can feature for West Brom but with Slaven Bilic’s side playing so well, would that be something that is on the cards unless promotion is wrapped up early?

It remains to be seen how long Leko will spend on the sidelines with this injury but we hope that it is not long enough to warrant Charlton terminating their loan agreement with the Baggies.
