View: West Brom to table interesting offer to keep hold of Diangana
Grady Diangana has been one of the stars of the season for West Brom yet doubts surround whether he will actually see out the full campaign at The Hawthorns.
Since joining the Baggies on loan from West Ham in the summer transfer window, the 21-year-old winger has scored five goals and supplied six assists in 20 Championship appearances.
More tellingly, West Brom have failed to win any of the six games that the England Under-21 international has missed since his arrival in the Black Country.
Diangana’s absence over the festive period is one of the reasons why Slaven Bilic has not seen his side win in five league games.
Albion’s last win came against Birmingham City on December 14, which was a game that the Hammers loanee scored in before suffering his injury.
Diangana is now, luckily, back to full fitness and made a 20-minute-long appearance off the bench at Charlton last week. However that cameo wasn’t enough to help the Baggies earn all three points as they drew 2-2 at The Valley.
West Brom could still lose Diangana before the end of the month.
West Ham have the option to recall their attacker until January 27 [Telegraph], which is excruciatingly close to the transfer window deadline.
Albion, though, do seem to have a plan to keep him.
According to the Birmingham Mail, West Brom are set to offer a further loan fee to West Ham in order to keep hold of Diangana past the end of this month.
It is an interesting offer and one that could tempt the Hammers into allowing their young attacker to see out the campaign in the West Midlands.
Diangana staying put would make a lot of sense in the long-term and the promise of extra cash could be enough just to sweeten up the deal a bit more and keep the Premier League side happy.
In other West Brom news, David Prutton has predicted Monday night’s clash with Stoke.
