View: David Moyes update on Grady Diangana is good and bad news for West Brom

West Brom fans will want to forget Monday night in a hurry.

Not only did they see their side put in a truly abysmal performance at The Hawthorns, but they also saw their side getting beaten by Stoke and yet another injury blow to Grady Diangana.

The 21-year-old winger was forced off just minutes into his full return from his latest setback.

Diangana had spent over a month recovering from an injury he suffered at Birmingham in December but was back in the starting line-up for the clash against Stoke on Monday.

Unfortunately, that return was shortlived as the England Under-21 international appeared to suffer a hamstring injury just minutes after the match kicked off.

It leaves West Brom with a major problem as since Diangana’s arrival on loan from West Ham in the summer, the Baggies have not won any of the six games he has not featured in and have failed to win the last two matches where he has come off the bench at Charlton and was forced off early versus Stoke.

West Ham manager David Moyes has now confirmed what could be seen as good and bad news about Diangana.

While he is looking set to miss the next month’s worth of action, the winger’s setback means that the Hammers “probably” will not recall him from his loan at The Hawthorns.

Express & Star journalist Joseph Masi shared Moyes’ update via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon.

It is a sickening blow that West Brom will be without Diangana for another month because in that time there are some big matches against in-form Millwall and Nottingham Forest to contend with.

Bilic needs to sign a replacement for Diangana before the current January transfer window closes otherwise his side’s promotion bid could be derailed.

But, at least Diangana’s setback means that West Brom could still have him from February until May.

There could be a silver lining to the winger’s injury.
