‘From bad to worse’ – Some West Brom fans react as key player hit with ban
West Brom will be without Matheus Pereira for their next three matches after the club confirmed they have accepted an FA charge for violent conduct.
Pereira, 23, caught Joe Allen with his elbow in the first half of the Baggies’ 1-0 defeat against Stoke at The Hawthorns on Monday night.
Albion have now confirmed via their official website that the Brazilian attacker will be unavailable for their next three games, which include this Saturday’s clash against West Ham in the FA Cup and two league games against Cardiff and Luton.
Pereira will no doubt be missed in those matches but they are not the three worst games for him to be suspended for.
Slaven Bilic would have been likely to rest the on-loan attacking midfielder at West Ham this weekend while the Luton clash is one that, on paper, the Baggies should win.
Either way, West Brom will still feel his absence and it is a reminder that the club needs to get a jog on in the transfer market with just nine days until the January window slams shut.
West Brom fans on Twitter do not seem too angry with the update on Pereira, with many accepting that he probably did deserve the ban.
