Report: West Brom want to sign PL 24-year-old before transfer deadline

West Brom have entered the hunt to sign Sheffield United forward Callum Robinson before the January transfer window slams shut on Friday, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Robinson, 24, was a target for West Brom in the summer before he joined Sheffield United from Preston North End but since moving to Bramall Lane, the Republic of Ireland international has found it difficult to cement his place in Chris Wilder’s plans.

The Birmingham Mail reports that due to Wilder having a wealth of forward options at his disposal, there is a chance that the Baggies could strike a deal to sign Robinson before the 11pm cut-off on Friday.

It is understood that Slaven Bilic wants to see two new attacking signings through the door at The Hawthorns before the transfer window closes until the summer and Robinson fits the bill.

Although he has only scored two goals in 19 appearances in all competitions since his move to Sheffield United, Robinson has certainly shown he can be a top player in the Championship.

Last season saw the Northampton-born attacker play mainly on the left-wing for Preston, be he can also play a role in the centre-forward position or on the right-hand flank.

He scored 13 goals in 28 total outings for Preston last term, with one of them coming against West Brom at The Hawthorns in April.

Robinson could be a very decent addition for Albion if they can strike a deal with the Blades.

In other West Brom news, Albion are in advanced talks to seal a new contract for this attacker.
