Graeme Jones discusses ‘explosive’ West Brom player after Baggies win 2-0 v Luton
Luton Town manager Graeme Jones has suggested that mistakes by his own side led to them losing against West Brom at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
Jones became an unpopular character at the Black Country club last season while he was the assistant manager for Darren Moore.
Many suggested that Jones’ play-it-out-from-the-back style of play is what cost Moore his job at The Hawthorns while the Express & Star reported that the former Belgium coach had agreed to take the manager’s job at Luton before he was dismissed by the Baggies.
It was also understood that he fell out with technical director Luke Dowling and chief executive Mark Jenkins on January deadline day when they cancelled a loan deal to sign Bryan Oviedo, a player who Jones wanted.

Jones’ return to The Hawthorns on Saturday was always going to be a sideshow for some fans and even his comments after the game have been a bit odd.
Rather than giving credit to his former club, Jones has decided to suggest that mistakes are what cost the Hatters in their 2-0 loss to West Brom.
“If you remember we’ve gone to third place [Forest] and today second place who have now gone top, I don’t think we were fazed but it doesn’t help when you gift them a first goal at any level,” Jones said after the match, as quoted on Luton’s official website.
“And then it’s a second phase from a corner that Kaz does brilliantly to stay with Matty Phillips, I know how explosive Matty can be and just lets him get that ball in the box. We lose Ajayi and that is the difference in the game.”
Luton are bottom of the table and it seems as though Jones is trying to use the same style of football he tried to implement at West Brom last season.
It didn’t work at The Hawthorns so why would it work at Kenilworth Road, where there are worse players?
Luton almost even scored an own goal towards the end of the game because they were over-passing the ball in their defence.
Maybe it is about time Jones takes a look at his tactics rather than suggesting a couple of individual errors are what cost his side at The Hawthorns.
In other West Brom news, fans are thrilled with this deadline day addition.
