View: Double January signing could soften the blow of latest West Brom injury update
West Brom boss Slaven Bilic has confirmed that the Baggies will be without key winger Grady Diangana until the beginning of March.
The West Ham loanee returned temporarily in the defeat against Stoke City but had to be withdrawn after a matter of minutes due to a recurrence of the same problem.
“Grady’s further than Kieran, but look Grady should be back, we’re talking about the beginning of March, let’s say,” he told the Birmingham Mail.
“Grady should be back for the last seven, eight, nine, ten games if we’re lucky, and that’s a lot of games.”
He has been a massive miss as well since he was missing before the win over Luton on Saturday – the Baggies had only won once against Birmingham.
Diangana has been a shining light, being involved in 10 goals in his 21 appearances. The 21-year-old has also completed 2.3 dribbles in each outing, the most in the entire squad [WhoScored].
Callum Robinson has arrived at the Hawthorns and made an instant impact in the win over Luton. He had an impressive six shots on goal as well as completing a key pass as he was at the heart of everything positive the Baggies did in the final third.
Comparing Diangana to another January arrival, Kamil Grosicki via WhoScored, it is clear that the Polish international could also ease the blow of missing the loanee winger.
The 31-year-old has been involved in more goals this season. He has also averaged nearly double the amount of shots on goal per game, as well as more key passes. Grosicki also loses possession of the ball significantly less.
The double January arrival of both Robinson and Grosicki could ease the blow of losing the impressive Diangana over the next month and could make it extremely difficult for him to earn his spot back after recovering from the injury.
