Exclusive: Kevin Phillips raves about ‘excellent’ West Brom business by Bilic
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Phillips is delighted with the transfer business that Slaven Bilic has conducted during his time in charge at West Brom.
Albion have seen their form drop in the last month and a half but remain one of the favourites for promotion to the Premier League.
Part of the reason why the Baggies have performed so well in the Championship is the signings that Bilic made in the summer.
Matheus Pereira and Grady Diangana have perhaps been the pick of the bunch while Darnell Furlong, Semi Ajayi and Romaine Sawyers have also impressed on a regular basis.
It remains to be seen how the new January arrivals will perform at The Hawthorns, but Phillips has suggested that they will do well because they have a great manager at the helm in Bilic.
“I think the players he’s brought into the football club have been excellent, combined with the players who were already there,” Phillips exclusively told West Brom News.
“He’s showed what a good manager he is and what a good man-manager he is as well because he just seems to me, from the outside looking in, he seems like he’s one of the lads, likes to join in with the banter and that but you can also see that when he needs to be the manager he’s the manager.
“He’s doing a fantastic job.”
West Brom underwent a major transformation in the summer.
Bilic was hired, plenty of long-serving players left on permanent deals and new faces were welcomed.
West Brom have struggled lately but should be able to bounce back soon enough if their January signings can hit the ground running in the same way most of the summer signings did.
In other West Brom news, fans slammed this senior player for his performance against Luton.
