E&S journalist claims West Brom star with ‘no weakness’ is worth £30m

West Brom attacker Matheus Pereira is a £30million player, according to Express & Star journalist Joseph Masi.

Albion signed Pereira, 23, on a loan-to-buy basis from Sporting CP in the summer transfer window and he has since proven himself to be the best player in the whole of the Championship.

In his 29 league appearances, the Brazilian maestro has scored six goals and supplied a Championship-leading 16 assists [transfermarkt].

It has been widely reported that West Brom are poised to sign Pereira permanently in a deal that will be worth a total of £9million, including his loan fee, and this has been regarded as a major bargain by fans.

It seems even more of a bargain when Express & Star reported Masi is claiming that the Brazilian ace is now worth over three times that amount.

When asked if West Brom can hold onto Pereira, Masi said on the Baggies Broadcast Podcast: “100 per cent, but they’ll have to go up.

“I would say he’s a £30million player. He has got to be worth that amount of money.

“He has got no weakness to his game.”

Pereira has been simply class for West Brom and it is hard to say anything about him that has not already been said.

According to stats by WhoScored, Pereira ranks second in the Championship for the number of key passes made per appearance [2.4] while he is the most-fouled in the second-tier, winning 2.9 fouls per match.

West Brom played a blinder when they signed the former Nuremberg attacker in the summer and, provided Albion win promotion, we cannot wait to see what he can do in the Premier League next season.

In other West Brom news, this Albion forward has been told he has no future at The Hawthorns.
