Report: West Brom player will be worth 5x what Albion are set to pay for him

Matheus Pereira’s move to become a full-time West Brom player will happen despite the current coronavirus-enforced suspension of the Championship.

According to the Express & Star, the Baggies still possess an option to sign Pereira, 23, permanently for £8.25million, even though there is also an obligation to buy him if he makes 30 Championship appearances of 45 minutes or more.

Pereira was due to make that 30th appearance against Birmingham on Saturday but, of course, the suspension of football until April has delayed that from happening.

Still, West Brom have the option to land the Brazilian attacker if they wish to and based on his form, that is something that will happen.

Interestingly, the Express & Star adds at the end of their report that Pereira will be worth five times what West Brom are paying for him once the move becomes official.

Albion paid a £750,000 loan fee for Pereira and with he £8.25million permanent option added on top, that makes it a £9million deal for a player who will go on to be worth £45million.

West Brom have really played a blinder here and, provided we do manage to win promotion to the Premier League, we cannot wait to see what the South American magician can go against some of the best teams in Europe.

In other West Brom news, Darren Bent shocked that Albion managed to keep this loanee past January.
