‘I don’t think he would leave’ – West Brom Super Fans react to reported Euro interest in Bilic

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.

West Brom managed Slaven Bilic has emerged on the radar of managerless Fenerbahce, according to a report in Turkey.

Fotospor have claimed on their website that after missing out on ex-Bayer Leverkusen manager Roger Schmidt, who has recently taken charge of PSV, Fenerbahce have turned their attention towards Bilic.

The former West Ham manager does have experience of managing in Turkey having taken charge of Fenerbahce’s fierce Istanbul rivals Besiktas between 2013 and 2015.

However that has not stopped them from setting their sights on the Croatian boss, who was appointed in charge of the Baggies last summer on a two-year deal.

Our panel of West Brom Super Fans have reacted to the surprise news regarding Bilic but none of them really see how he would quit The Hawthorns to head to a team that is struggling in the league and struggling financially.

As you can see, our panel are pretty much in total agreement that Bilic will be happy to stay at West Brom and ignore the interest from Fenerbahce.

If anything, Fenerbahce’s interest just shows how good a manager the Baggies have because they are by no means a small club in Turkey and have ambitions of winning silverware and playing in Europe.

One fan dubbed Bilic as a “big fish in a small pond” based on the quality of managers that have been at The Hawthorns in recent years.

He certainly sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the likes of Steve Clarke, Pepe Mel, Alan Irvine and Darren Moore.

In other West Brom news, Paul Merson has delivered his verdict on plans for a 22-team Premier League next season.
