Semi Ajayi names the fastest player in the West Brom squad, ‘according to GPS data’

Semi Ajayi reckons that he is the fastest player at West Brom but admits that the data suggests it is young attacker Kyle Edwards.

Albion defender Ajayi, 26, did a Q&A session on his personal Instagram account on Wednesday and one of the questions he was asked was who is the fastest player at The Hawthorns.

Ajayi is the quickest centre-back that West Brom have had in a long time and that has helped improve their defence by leaps and bounds this season.

However the Nigeria international admits that Edwards, 22, is the only who is factually quicker than him.

“I’m still adamant it’s myself, to be honest. But according to the GPS data, Kyle Edwards has recorded a slightly higher top speed,” said Ajayi, followed by a crying emoji.

He then challenged Edwards to a race and added: “I still don’t think he beats me over 100m though.”

Edwards is certainly one of the fastest players out on the pitch for West Brom, who have definitely quick a quicker squad of players this season than they did last term.

Darnell Furlong and Conor Townsend are both rapid full-backs while Matheus Pereira and Grady Diangana both have a turn of pace about them too.

We’d like to see this 100m race between Ajayi and Edwards.

While Edwards can get to a higher top speed, we reckon that Ajayi’s long legs will get him to the finish line first.

In other West Brom news, Albion want to sign this Croatian midfielder.
