West Brom duo named in FIFA team of the season so far

West Brom have been one of the best teams to watch in English football this season and deserves some of their players to be in the reckoning for awards.

There has been a big indicator that two of Albion’s star players could be in for some personal accolades once the campaign is over with FIFA’s EFL team of the season so far being released on Friday.

The EFL’s official Twitter account revealed that defender Semi Ajayi and attacker Matheus Pereira have both been included in the team, with Ultimate Team cards being released for FIFA players to snap up and use while the country remains in lockdown.

Pereira, 23, has been the star of the show at The Hawthorns this season with the Brazilian scoring six goals and supplying 16 assists in 33 Championship appearances for the Baggies.

Ajayi’s performances cannot be understated just because of how well Pereira has done and the former Rotherham defender also deserves his spot in the side.

The 26-year-old colossus has scored five goals in 35 league appearances, making him the second-highest scoring defender in the Championship.

However his goalscoring abilities aren’t what make Ajayi stand out as the Nigeria international’s pace, aerial prowess and passing ability have helped transform West Brom’s defence.

Pereira and Ajayi deserve to be named in FIFA’s team of the season so far but you could also make a case for Jake Livermore to be included too.
