Sky journalist: Unnamed PL owner shared solution for next season including Leeds & WBA

Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has revealed that an unnamed Premier League owner has shared a solution for next season including West Brom.

The anonymous owner believes that the best solution still remains promotion Leeds and the Baggies and starting a 22-team Premier League for the next campaign.

That idea popped up because of the fact that most clubs are still uncertain on how to finish things if the season is abandoned early.

Solhekol revealed what he was told by the owner on Tuesday, and it certainly benefits both West Brom and Leeds.

“Nobody knows how to settle things if we don’t play again,” he said.

“I still believe no relegation would be the best solution and we can go with having a 22-team league for one season with Leeds and West Brom coming up.”

With the Premier League clubs uncertain on how to finish things, the picture seems a lot more clear in the Championship.

Both West Brom and Leeds have occupied the top-two spots in the Championship for the majority of the season, and any model such as the point-per-game method would see both promoted anyway.

This 22-team solution is already out of the window though, with the Premier League already revealing that the idea of relegation being cancelled has been scrapped already, with three teams needing to go down.

That opens up the door for the Baggies to take one of those spots, but they may need to get through their final nine games before earning that right.
