Semi Ajayi says which West Brom fan song he was humming to himself for days after hearing it

Semi Ajayi has paid tribute to the West Brom away fans who generated an impressive atmosphere away at Nottingham Forest on the first day of the season.

Ajayi, 26, made his debut for the Baggies in that 2-1 win at the City Ground after joining from Rotherham in the summer transfer window.

Since his move, Ajayi has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Championship and is the second-highest scoring defender in the league with five goals in 35 appearances.

It seems that West Brom fans made a good impression on the Nigeria international when he made his debut in Nottingham back in August and after the match, he couldn’t get the fans’ song about Slaven Bilic out of his head.

I made my debut against Nottingham Forest away on the first day of this season,” Ajayi told West Brom’s official website. “The main thing I remember from that game was how loud our away support was throughout the 90 minutes!

“I think that was the first game they sang the gaffer’s song too and they must have sang it at least 20 times that day, so for the following three or four days, the song was stuck in my head and I was constantly humming it to myself.

“It was the first time I’d ever experienced our away support and it left a huge impression on me.”

West Brom’s away support is always brilliant and as for that song about Bilic, it has been stuck in everyone’s heads for pretty much the entire season.

Ajayi has been brilliant for the Baggies since his arrival in the summer and he has done so much better in the Championship than Craig Dawson did.

The Nigerian defender has pace, height, passing ability, is a good tackler and he also knows where the back of the net is.

Him and Kyle Bartley have forged a superb partnership in the heart of the defence and we cannot wait to see how the former Rotherham ace can perform in the top-flight.

In other West Brom news, Albion are to be handed a potentially huge boost in their bid to sign Matheus Pereira permanently.
