Stiliyan Petrov & many West Brom fans thrilled with official club news: ‘Wonderful’, ‘Brilliant’

West Brom fans are thrilled with the news that James Morrison has landed a coaching role at The Hawthorns as assistant manager for the Under-23s.

It was confirmed on Friday evening on Albion’s official website that Morrison, 34, has taken his first step onto the coaching ladder after a successful trial period of working within the Baggies’ academy.

Morrison spent almost his entire playing career at The Hawthorns, earning 341 appearances in all competitions for the Baggies between 2007 and his retirement in 2019.

The former midfielder won two promotions to the Premier League as a West Brom player and earned 46 caps for Scotland.

He also started the 2005/06 UEFA Cup final when Middlesbrough lost to Sevilla.

Morrison is now back at The Hawthorns in a permanent role and as well as fans being thrilled by the news, former Aston Villa player Stiliyan Petrov is also delighted.

The ex-Bulgaria international wrote on his personal Twitter account: “Congratulations Mozza. Well deserved, good luck.

Here is what West Brom fans had to say about the news:

We hope that Morrison can continue being a role model to the young players at West Brom.

Chris Brunt is the only person at The Hawthorns who can boast more appearances for the club but Morrison can always say he’s been a part of the club longer – even if it is only by a few days.

In other West Brom news, Albion have been tipped to sign this Bournemouth player in the summer transfer window.
