West Brom ready to move to sign striker who scored 22 PL goals for bitter rivals – report

West Brom are readying a move to sign former Wolves striker Steven Fletcher with his contract at Sheffield Wednesday due to expire at the end of the season, according to TeamTalk.

The news outlet claims that Premier League clubs Burnley, Bournemouth and Norwich are also keen on the 33-year-old while in the Championship, West Brom, Derby and Stoke are eyeing up a free transfer swoop.

It is understood that Sheffield Wednesday want to keep hold of Fletcher, who has scored 13 goals in 26 Championship appearances this term, but the Owls are struggling to meet his demands with the EFL investigating the Yorkshire club for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.

West Brom fans are likely to remember Fletcher from his spell at bitter rivals Wolves.

The Scottish forward scored 22 Premier League goals during his spell at Molineux, with three of them coming against the Baggies.

We cannot see why Fletcher would be a good signing for Albion, or any Premier League club as a matter of fact.

He did well for Sheffield Wednesday in the first half of the season but has struggled with injuries and you cannot ignore the fact he will turn 34 years old next year.

If Albion win promotion then fans will want a striker who is a lot younger and a lot more proven in recent Premier League seasons.

In other West Brom news, Albion have been tipped to sign this Bournemouth player in the summer transfer window.
