West Brom fans want to see the club hire Kevin Phillips as the new Under-23s manager after the former striker declared his interest in the job.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News this week, Phillips revealed that he is keen to return to coaching and would “definitely be interested” in the full-time Under-23s job.

Deon Burton has been in temporary charge of the Premier League 2 side since Michael Appleton left to over at Lincoln City in September.

Burton has done a superb job but technical director Luke Dowling revealed in March that he is conducting interviews about the permanent job.

James Morrison has recently been hired as the assistant manager for the Under-23s and now, fans want to see Phillips join Mozza in the coaching set-up.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Phillips seems to tick all the boxes.

He’s coached at Stoke, Leicester and Derby, he doesn’t live too far away from West Brom and he is one of the best forwards Albion have had in the 21st century.

It is no shock at all to see these fans urging the club to hire Super Kev and we’d love to see him team up alongside Morrison in the Under-23s set-up.

In other West Brom news, Romelu Lukaku and Ben Foster have paid tribute to Chris Brunt on Twitter.
