View: Reported injury update on ‘key’ West Brom ace could provide big boost to promotion hopes

Few players have had as much of an instant impact on West Brom in recent years as Grady Diangana.

The West Ham loanee hit the ground running at The Hawthorns, and has established himself as a firm fan’s favourite in the midlands.

With five goals and six assists across 21 Championship outings this term, he has been a constant source of creativity and danger, and it’s perhaps no coincidence that between December 21st and the beginning of February – when injuries restricted him to just 24 minutes of action – the Baggies failed to pick up a single league win.

As such, it will come as a huge boost to Albion to know that they will have the 22-year-old available for the final stages of their promotion push when the Championship restarts later this month.

The Birmingham Mail report that the wide man is back in full training with his teammates, and is set to play a “key role” between now and the end of the season.

And that’s great news for Slaven Bilic’s men.

Diangana hasn’t only found favour among fans this season, but has also drawn widespread acclaim from pundits too.

Keith Andrews recently hailed the winger for his “electric” pace, while Lee Hendrie has praised him for his “magnificent” contributions this term.

With his directness on the ball and willingness to run at defenders, Diangana will always carry a threat, and having him back in the side following another extended period of absence prior to lockdown can only be a good thing for our promotion hopes.

If he brings even a fraction of the spark that he showed in the early stages of the campaign, he can be our biggest weapon in the battle to return to the Premier League this summer.
