‘Fantastic’, ‘Great signing’ – Many West Brom fans react to reported pursuit for PL talent
West Brom fans have expressed their eagerness for the club to make a move for West Ham full-back Jeremy Ngakia.
The 19-year-old has refused to sign a new contract with the Hammers, and according to West Ham insider ExWHUemployee, the Baggies are eyeing him up as a potential replacement for Nathan Ferguson, who is also exit-bound this summer.
Ngakia has begun to establish himself as a first team regular in East London, and has started all four of the Hammers’ last four Premier League matches.
“It’s believed that the latest club to be strongly interested in Ngakia is West Brom,” ExWHUemployee told The West Ham Way podcast.
“There’s a strong chance that they will be in the Premier League next season.
“Their right-back Nathan Ferguson is out of contract himself and has possibly agreed to join Crystal Palace. So Bilic has maybe said to him you will come in and you’ll be our right-back.”
And we’d be all for snapping up the youngster when he becomes available.
The fact that he would be available on a free is just an added sweetener.
It’s clear that the full-back has immense potential.
Not only has he forced his way into David Moyes’ plans, but he has averaged more dribbles and more defensive duels won per game than Ferguson this season, as per Wyscout.
Sky Sports pundit Carlton Cole has heaped praise on the youngster in the past for his “immense” displays, and the sky does genuinely look like it is the limit for him.
Losing Ferguson would be a blow, of course, but what better way to get over that disappointment than by immediately replacing him with a player who is just as young and just as promising?
