West Brom have hardly gotten good value for money out of summer signing Kenneth Zohore.

The hitman has struck just three goals in 17 Championship appearances hasn’t been a bountiful return, and no goals since January have left a significant portion of the fanbase seemingly very frustrated with him.

And you can’t blame them.

This is a player who was brought in for £8 million with the express task of making up the shortfall of goals left by Dwight Gayle’s departure.

Admittedly, they are very different players, but in short, the Dane has not been anywhere near successful enough.

Compared to Gayle, he has fewer shots per game, has a dribble success rate that his 17.6% lower, and even, somewhat bafflingly, wins a lower percentage of his aerial duels, as per Wyscout.

Those stats just aren’t good enough, especially when a side are pinning their promotion hopes on your goalscoring prowess.

And while it has been relatively okay for Zohore to amble on for most of the season without making much of an impact, we are now at a point where everybody associated with West Brom has to step up to the plate.

One point from a possible six since the Championship restart has left our automatic promotion cushion looking a little more threadbare than it did during lockdown, and Wednesday’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday has taken on an added significance.

If Zohore is given the nod in that game, he has to prove himself as a goalscorer, because judging by the reactions of several Baggies, he’s really running out of chances to do so.
