West Brom are one of a number of clubs who are in the hunt to sign Chelsea striker Ike Ugbo, according to TeamTalk.
Ugbo, 21, has spent this season on loan at Dutch second-tier club Roda JC, scoring 13 goals in 28 league appearances.
His form in Holland appears to have attracted the attention of a number of clubs with West Brom joined by West Ham, Watford, Crystal Palace, Derby and Nottingham Forest in eyeing the England Under-20 international.
TeamTalk reports that Chelsea are ready to send Ugbo out on loan again and adds that a number of clubs have already asked about a temporary deal for next season.
West Brom did well with the last striker they had on loan from Chelsea but we very much doubt that Ugbo would hit anywhere near the heights of Romelu Lukaku.
Ugbo’s done well in the Netherlands this term but the Dutch second-tier is not a strong league at all and last season, the London-born forward scored one goal in 16 appearances at League One side Scunthorpe.
Albion are going to need to strengthen their striker options ahead of next season, no matter what division they are playing in but there’s just no way Ugbo will be an improvement on what they have.
Slaven Bilic and Luke Dowling have worked well to get the Albion squad to the level it is at now but Ugbo won’t be an improvement.
He would be a waste of a loan slot, especially if the Baggies are in the Premier League and you can only have two loanees from other Premier League clubs.
In other West Brom news, we’ve found out if Callum Morton can play for Albion now that his loan at Northampton is over.
