‘I quite like him’ – Alan McInally raves about West Brom ace in big win v Sheffield Wednesday

Alan McInally was full of praise for Matheus Pereira on Wednesday night after he impressed in West Brom’s 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Pereira, 24, scored twice in the second half to help Albion secure their first win since February and move within one point of Championship leaders Leeds.

Speaking during the first half, Sky Sports pundit McInally admitted that Pereira is a player he admires as he starred at Hillsborough.

“Pereira has been pretty good, to be honest, I quite like him,” said McInally on Sky Sports News on Wednesday night. “He’s quite a cultured player.”

Pereira has not been playing at his 100 per cent best since the Championship season resumed last month but he if he still earning plaudits from the likes of McInally then he is clearly still doing something right.

McInally’s praise for the Brazilian came before he even got himself on the scoresheet and there were sections of fans who weren’t happy with his display in the opening 45 minutes.

It might just be that expectations for Pereira are so high now after such a brilliant first half of the season at The Hawthorns and fans might be hoping for even more scintillating performances with his permanent deal all but tied up.

We really do love Pereira and cannot believe the Baggies have been able to snap him up permanently from Sporting CP for £9million.

But if he’s scoring twice and still having a not-so-good day at the office then we cannot wait to see him playing at his best once again.

What a player he is.
